A Note About the Planning and Zoning Committee Decision

I hate to lose. I was heartbroken by the 4-0 decision by the Garden City Planning and Zoning Committee last week. The Commissioners voted in lock step with the applicant who plans to put 750 single family units on 22.5 acres of open space golf course.

Congratulations to the applicant that has a well-oiled machine and years of experience.

I would also like to thank the City Fathers who allowed us the opportunity to place in the public record documents that were the work product of some of the best legal minds in Idaho. We will proceed with a similar strategy as we present before City Council. I seriously doubt that the Commissioners read any of those documents, but they can all be found at City Hall and on our website, www.preserveplantation.com.

As the case moves on to City Council a similar result is very likely. We will continue to make our case as we move beyond the council proceedings and into litigation.  For over a year we have always felt and stated that our best chance will come at this point in our campaign.

We may have to take another one “on the chin for the team”, but we remain hopeful that at least one Council Member will read our documents—I have always been an optimistic idealist. We should all be encouraged, not by the results before the City Fathers, but by the strength of our legal case.

Keep the faith.
