Next Steps

Sun shining through trees.

Written by Dr. John Livingston.

Preserve Plantation and our over 180 neighbors and friends in the Treasure Valley are grateful for the Garden City vote on July 10, 2023 on the Special Area Plan (SAP) application of the River Club and Lincoln National Properties group.

We again thank all parties including Mr. Gustafson for their willingness to work with the Plantation neighborhood in trying to provide an equitable solution that would consider the interests of all parties.

We are disappointed that the recommendations of City Council and the document presented to the Council for approval on July 10, 2023 are very different in their spirit and the letter of the directives given to the City Attorney and to the City Planner, and then resubmitted back to the Council.

The entire July 10, 2023 City Council meeting can be found here and then the directive submitted by the City Attorney defining the rule by which the vote will be enforced can be found here. Readers can see for themselves the discrepancies, inconsistencies, and ambiguities.

We encourage any interested people to read and watch both the City Council meeting from June 26, 2023 and the meeting from July 10, 2023.

We will proceed with our request for the City Council for reconsideration, and then we sincerely look forward to presenting our case as part of the Judicial Review Process.

Our case in “politic and law” is moving forward. Thirteen months into this process we are in a position I could have never dreamt we would be in at this point in the process.

Thank you again to everybody.
