Parking Amendment Update

Parking lot full of vehicles.

The following information was provided by Garden City via email on April 17, 2023 regarding the proposed parking amendments.

There are proposed changes to Garden City's parking code that appear to reduce the number of required parking spaces for up to a 3 bedroom unit to 1 space and “parking adjustments” based on the proximity to a bus stop. These changes will likely allow reduced parking for the Residences at River Club. Parking will then overflow onto the streets of the Plantation Neighborhood and neighborhoods across State Street.

You are receiving this as you have expressed interest in the parking ordinance, file number CPAFY2022-0006.  The current draft of the ordinance can be accessed here.  The application has been noticed for a hearing on Monday, April 24, 2023, at 6:00 pm.  Not all council members will be present at the April 24, 2023, council meeting.  Subsequently, the matter may be continued to a date certain of Monday, May 8, 2023, at 6:00pm.

AUDIO VISUAL

The official meeting is the in-person meeting at City Hall.  The city offers the ability to participate remotely, see link: How to Attend a Public Meeting.

The audio-visual equipment in the Council Chambers has unexpectedly stopped functioning.  The city is in the process of installing new equipment and is hopeful that it will be functional by the hearing.  However, as this is an emergency replacement of equipment, there is no guarantee that it will be fully functional by the date of the hearing.  Please note that if the option for remote attendance is not functioning, the in-person hearing will continue.

End of email.
